Alright, Homes are going for about $585,700 on average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. TIA! I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 9 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Seattle about 12 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from LA about 11 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is improving.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.
