I grew up here but left for a while. The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I overthinking this? Thanks for reading. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Moved here from Raleigh about 6 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to food scene but No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Chicago about 10 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is tough.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
