Hey everyone, Just moved here 1 months ago and Rent is about $1,518/month for a decent place. With a population of 55,007, Tinley Park is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 55,007 people. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from LA about 14 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 13 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'm a contractor and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely average and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Definitely worth checking out..

Bought a house here in 2022 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone about the same since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a physical therapist, 32, moved here 15 years ago from LA. I've lived in Pine Hills and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Close to major attractions
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The walkability situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for couples. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $90K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
