Hey folks, Median household income is $36,055, which feels on the lower side for the area

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from New York about 2 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Houston about 6 years ago. The main reasons were family and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

The food scene here is average. Tons of great Indian places. it was the best decision I ever made.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 6 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
