Is Toledo a good place to live?

Hey everyone, I'm a college student here and You can expect to pay around $880 for rent here. Rent is about $880/month for a decent place. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Is this normal for Toledo? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Riverside. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

I'm a pharmacist and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Moved here from Chicago about 6 years ago. I genuinely enjoy living here. Still getting used to job market but It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The school system is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Highland for 6 years. Moved from Boston for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Homeless population growing downtown. And dating scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 7/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
