Just moved to Toledo from LA — first impressions
We made the move 5 ago and here are my first impressions:
The downtown area has been revitalized. Rent runs about $880/month for a typical apartment. Weather is moderate — about 53F average.
Biggest surprise: The food scene is way better than expected
Biggest disappointment: The winters are rougher than expected
Overall, it works for our family.

I've lived in Riverside for 3 years and it's a hidden gem honestly.

I'd add that the parks here are amazing for families. Otherwise spot on!

Totally agree with this. I've been here 5 years and my experience is very similar.

Been here 20 years. The city has changed a lot but overall for the better.

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 7/10.

Rent tip: look for places in winter. Prices drop and there's more availability.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

As someone who moved here from New York, I can confirm most of this. The weather surprised me the most.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Westside and Southside are perfectly safe.
