Weekend activities in Toledo?

Been meaning to ask this. Average temperature is around 53°F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 268K, Toledo is a mid-size city. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Appreciate any input. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Highland for 1 years. Moved from Phoenix for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 10 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Used to live on the South side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Miami about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is solid.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

I work in marketing here and it was the best decision I ever made. The job market for my field is average. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've been here 11 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is decent.
