Hey everyone, I'm originally from Portland and Poverty rate is 12.6%, which is around average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Would love some local perspective.

I've lived in Springfield for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of new development happening
- The cultural scene scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
