Random thought, I've been here for 10 years and Rent is about $1,678/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 3.7%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. What are your go-to spots?

I work in hospitality here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Highland. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in retail. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is weather. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Baltimore about 8 years ago. The main reasons were work and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is improving.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is tough.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.
