Commute times in Toms River -how bad?

Household incomes average around $95,759 in Toms River. Median household income is $95,759, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks for reading. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 13 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is average - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Road conditions need improvement. Homeless population growing downtown. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 6/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 13 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- The pet-friendliness scene is improving

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..
