Is Tonawanda Town a good place to live?

First post here. Poverty rate is 6.6%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 2.4%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 49--F, so expect cold winters. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Pros:
- Low crime in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Walkable downtown
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Cold winters
- Limited dining options
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Not enough green space
It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is average in most areas.

Used to live on the South side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is weather. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Seattle about 12 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Bought a house here in 2020 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely excellent and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (North) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.
