Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Maple Ridge for 3 years. Moved from Tampa for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Nightlife is limited. And walkability can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much developing but now it's challenging.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to LA it's hit or miss.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The dating scene is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 4 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I've lived in Uptown for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- The public transit scene is improving
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Midtown. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in government. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2016 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone about the same since then.
