We have two kids and Poverty rate is 11.6%, which is around average. Crime rate is something to consider — Topeka sits at 712.3 per 100K. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
