Cheapest neighborhoods in Torrance?

My family moved here when I was a kid. The unemployment rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. With a population of 143K, Torrance is a mid-size city. Homes are going for about $1,036,600 on average. Household incomes average around $113,105 in Torrance. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. I work in engineering here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is solid. Hope this helps!.

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the North side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Denver about 12 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is tough.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. No regrets on my end..

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much pricey but now it's solid.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in West for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- The dating scene scene is decent

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in education. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Houston about 4 years ago. The main reasons were family and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for work and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The dating scene is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely excellent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Old Town) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 52, moved here 13 years ago from New York. I've lived in Westside and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Close to major attractions
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited entertainment options
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The public transit situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for retirees. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $80K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
