Biggest downsides of living in Totowa?

Hey, We have two kids and It's a a small town city with about 10,919 people. You can expect to pay around $1,703 for rent here. Household incomes average around $114,177 in Totowa. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Has anyone dealt with this? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Fairview. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in education. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like sushi.

No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely underrated and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Downtown) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely better than expected and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Springfield) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much reasonable but now it's better than expected.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
