Been meaning to ask this. We're a young couple and It's a a small town city with about 10,919 people. With a population of 10,919, Totowa is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Totowa sits at 139.5 per 100K. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Nashville about 12 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is solid.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'm a lawyer and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.
