What Town 'n' Country does better than anywhere else

Random thought, You can expect to pay around $1,643 for rent here. It's a a smaller city city with about 86,544 people. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. Should I be concerned?

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 29, moved here 15 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in Pine Hills and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The outdoor recreation situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for young professionals. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $90K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Nashville about 5 years ago. The main reasons were weather and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Good luck with whatever you decide..
