Starting a business in Traverse City?

Random thought, My family moved here when I was a kid. Crime rate is something to consider -Traverse City sits at 418.5 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $983 for rent here. Homes are going for about $367,600 on average. Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 12 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
