I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Portland about 15 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is excellent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
