I've lived in Eastside for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options
- The walkability scene is improving
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I work in finance here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is solid. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Eastside. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in finance. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in East for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- The housing market scene is average
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. No regrets on my end..

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much developing but now it's improving.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Springfield. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in finance. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
