Life in Trenton as a young professional

Been meaning to ask this. With a population of 89,966, Trenton is a smaller city. Household incomes average around $47,102 in Trenton. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Any advice would be great. Cheers.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Fairview. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much wild but now it's improving.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Dallas about 1 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I work in hospitality here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
