What to expect moving to Trenton?

OK so I grew up here but left for a while. The median home value here is around $209,700, which is actually reasonable. Crime rate is something to consider -Trenton sits at 637.8 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,354 for rent here. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I overthinking this? Thanks! The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 31, moved here 10 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in West and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The cultural scene situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for remote workers. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $90K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
