OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in tech. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great Mexican places. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Portland about 13 years ago. The main reasons were family and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is tough.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
