I'm a remote worker and Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. Household incomes average around $70,450 in Troy. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in retail. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
