Been living here since 2021. You can expect to pay around $1,354 for rent here. Worth the trade-offs?

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The community vibe is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Highland for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The community vibe scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Atlanta about 2 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..
