First post here. I'm originally from Salt Lake City and The median home value here is around $228,800, which is actually reasonable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Let me know your thoughts.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Phoenix it's better than expected.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The cultural scene is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely underrated and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
