OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a marketing manager, 32, moved here 11 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in Pine Hills and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Growing food and restaurant scene
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The nightlife situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for remote workers. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**

I've lived in Lakewood for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The school system scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is surprisingly good.
