Best hidden gems in Tulsa

Been meaning to ask this. I'm single, late 40s, and Median household income is $58,407, which feels about average for the area.

I've lived in Midtown for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
- The safety scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Boston about 11 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The walkability is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..
