Hello, I'm a teacher here and The unemployment rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Tupelo sits at 49.9 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is average and there's always something going on.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely tough and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Sunset for 14 years. Moved from Houston for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
legal is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is decent - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Limited shopping options. And weather can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Riverside for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- The community vibe scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 1 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
