Hello, Crime rate is something to consider -Turlock sits at 574.7 per 100K. Household incomes average around $79,807 in Turlock. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What would you do? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Fairview. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Definitely worth checking out..

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The nightlife is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The pet-friendliness is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in government. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from LA about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.
