Is Tuscaloosa worth it salary-wise?
Longtime lurker here, My partner and I are Crime rate is something to consider -Tuscaloosa sits at 483.3 per 100K. Homes are going for about $236,600 on average. Poverty rate is 15.2%, which is higher than I expected. The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services.
