The good and bad of living in Tuscaloosa
Military spouse here. It's a a mid-size city city with about 108K people. Rent is about $1,005/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Tuscaloosa sits at 483.3 per 100K. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.
