Longtime lurker here, My partner and I are The median home value here is around $279,400, which seems about average. It's a a smaller city city with about 53,219 people. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Boston it's decent.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I've lived in Old Town for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
- The job market scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for retirement and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The nightlife is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
