Pros and cons of Twin Falls after 5 years

So, Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Poverty rate is 8.7%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $60,760 in Twin Falls. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Worth the trade-offs? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 11 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely challenging and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (North) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in West for 11 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Winters are long and cold. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 6/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
- The nightlife scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
