Random thought, The unemployment rate is 21.8%, which is concerning. Average temperature is around 49--F, so expect cold winters. It's a a small town city with about 1,082 people. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Anyone in a similar situation? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in North for 12 years. Moved from Denver for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Limited entertainment options. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 7/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in The Heights. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in finance. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Hope this helps!.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Korean.
