Been meaning to ask this. You can expect to pay around $1,199 for rent here. With a population of 108K, Tyler is a mid-size city. Crime rate is something to consider -Tyler sits at 375.3 per 100K. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Houston about 13 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.
