Job market in Tyler — what industries are hiring?

I'm in tech and considering a move to Tyler, TX. How's the job market there? The unemployment rate shows 3.0% which seems pretty good. But what does it actually look like on the ground?

Is it easy to network and find opportunities?

For families, I'd recommend looking at Maple Heights. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

As someone who moved here from Boston, I can confirm most of this. The job opportunities surprised me the most.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Northside and Eastside are perfectly safe.

If you can afford it, Old Town is the best place to live. Period.

I've lived in Lakewood for 4 years and it's decent, has its pros and cons.

Don't sleep on Oakwood. It's up and coming and still affordable.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is drive around neighborhoods at different times before committing. Makes a big difference.

Rent tip: look for places in winter. Prices drop and there's more availability.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Coming from Houston, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are about the same.
