Anyone else feel this way? I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Poverty rate is 6.1%, which is pretty low. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Has anyone dealt with this? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The school system is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Springfield for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- The healthcare scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
