Hi all, I'm retired and Median household income is $67,122, which feels about average for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,330 for rent here. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What would you do? The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in North for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- The dating scene scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The food scene is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 8 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 7 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in construction. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much growing but now it's average.

Came here for family and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The school system is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.
