Is Ukiah good for remote workers?

Hey, My partner and I are It's a a small town city with about 16,419 people. Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Let me know your thoughts. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I've lived in The Heights for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of new development happening
- The traffic scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Downtown) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great sushi places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 36, moved here 4 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in The Heights and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The school system situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for young professionals. average vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
