Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm originally from San Francisco and Household incomes average around $137,194 in Union City. Average temperature is around 60--F, so the weather is moderate. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Any advice would be great.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Boston about 1 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is tough.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to LA it's decent.

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The pet-friendliness is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

I'm a writer who relocated here from New York about 5 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from New York about 4 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is improving.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Bought a house here in 2016 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone about the same since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in North. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in government. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
