Curious what people think. My family moved here when I was a kid. Household incomes average around $137,194 in Union City. Crime rate is something to consider -Union City sits at 368.3 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Anyone in a similar situation? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Austin about 3 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is tough.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.
