First time home buyer in Union City

Anyone else feel this way? I work in tech and Poverty rate is 14.7%, which is around average. Rent is about $1,213/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Union City sits at 1,271.1 per 100K. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Lots of new development
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Cold winters
- Limited dining options
- Chain restaurants dominate
Worth the trade-offs? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in education. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Definitely worth checking out..
