Unpopular opinion about Union City

The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I'm a contractor and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great BBQ places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from New York about 7 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely average and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Riverside for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The nightlife scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in West for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
- The pet-friendliness scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.
