OK so I work in tech and Rent is about $1,489/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $446,800 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,489 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely improving and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (West) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor recreation is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Bought a house here in 2022 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 15 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
