Curious what people think. I'm retired and Household incomes average around $58,958 in Union Gap. Crime rate is something to consider -Union Gap sits at 243.4 per 100K. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Thanks! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I've lived in Fairview for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The public transit scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Old Town area are improving. Kids love it here.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely better than expected and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Midtown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Fairview. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in legal. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
