Moving to Union with kids -good idea?

Hey, It's a a small town city with about 7,494 people. Household incomes average around $139,013 in Union. Rent is about $1,721/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $1,721 for rent here. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely underrated and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Downtown) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The cultural scene is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
