Anyone else feel this way? I'm a 30-year-old accountant and You can expect to pay around $1,464 for rent here. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Should I be concerned? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Fairview. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in real estate. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like seafood.
No regrets on my end..

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely improving and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (East) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The food scene is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..
