Hi all, I'm a 31-year-old physical therapist and Average temperature is around 74--F, so it's warm year-round. You can expect to pay around $1,185 for rent here. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Appreciate any input. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Uptown. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in education. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like sushi.

I've been in South for 11 years. Moved from Austin for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Road conditions need improvement. And nightlife can be frustrating.

Background: I'm a teacher, 28, moved here 6 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in East and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Growing food and restaurant scene
3. Nice parks and green spaces
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The nightlife situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
