Living in University CDP (Hillsborough County) -the reality

Hey everyone, I'm single, late 40s, and Median household income is $36,483, which feels on the lower side for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -University CDP (Hillsborough County) sits at 315.8 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,185 for rent here. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Low crime in most areas
- Diverse community
- Good healthcare facilities
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Limited dining options
- Boring for young people
- Poor road conditions
Am I wrong here? The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Came here for family and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The dating scene is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

I'm a writer and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
